Silly September

We have done a wide range of activities this September! It's been a weird month for us--we've finally settled on the idea that the girls are just going through a growth spurt. This past month they've become bottomless pits, restless sleepers, cranky and moody threenagers, and just basically impossible to please. I take that as a direct challenge because I make it a point to provide them with a million and one activities/crafts! I think these days their brains are just going a million miles an hour and I've been working overtime to keep them occupied and stimulated.
Chuck E Cheese
She actually managed to drive the car this way...
Eating dad's dinner in addition to her own!
iPads and iPhones=going out to eat is almost like a date now!
They're really getting the hang of writing
1st big girl pillows require special big girl pillow cases
1st theater experience to see Disney Live Musical at the Dolby Theater. Can I just say how awesome and well behaved they were--popcorn *may* have played a role...
In order to get out of the house she required her sunglasses, headband, and bracelet. No worries...only took us 15 extra minutes...
Moldable soap making!
Desperate measures. By this point the girls were driving me nuts with complaints and unhappiness. They're still playing this "game" weeks later.
Cousins and technology experts with only the combined age of 7.
I was really stretching for anything at this point to keep them happy
Who knew cut up sponges could be so fun!

1st Big Family Vacation!

We have done a number of overnight vacations with the girls but we've never attempted more than 24 hours away from home. After a rough start to our summer (that included medical issues, a burst kitchen pipe, and a close family friend's passing) we decided we needed a fun, extravagant family vacation! Alex planned a 3-day stay at The Grand Californian at Disneyland and the girls began counting down our trip over a month before, hehe.

Getting excited for their Disneyland trip!
The girls wearing their pink Mickey hats that were a 1st birthday gift from our dear family friend Mary Anne who we sadly lost recently.

New princess luggage
Standing in front of their countdown chart the morning we were leaving!
Arrival
Olivia's 1st game of Midway Mania (in reality, probably her 10th time on the ride in her life). Her courtesy 500 points for trying...
2nd Midway Mania attempt. After lots of pep talks, Olivia finally figured out how to aim the gun!
Smoothies
I thought they were going to knock her over!
So happy to meet Doc McStuffins
Happiest little girls ever!
Playing Peek-a-Boo with Minnie

1st day break back in the room...recharging with some apples. They ended up sleeping so well together on the couchbed. Let me say though, inflatable bed bumpers rock! We just stuck one between them and viola!
Build-a-Bear
Preparing the "heart" to put inside their pets..."rub it together."
"Up high for bravery"
"On your muscle for strength"
"On your ear so they'll be good listeners"
"Over your heart, close your eyes and make a wish"
Waving to people from our balcony that overlooked downtown Disney.
Emma could have spent all day in the castle!
Character breakfast. So happy to see Meeko from Pocahontas.
Lu dancing with the bears
So content!
In addition to Aunty Natty coming down for a day so did the girls' BFF's Reaghan and Ryleigh. We all survived being stuck on Pirates of the Caribbean for 15 minutes during a power failure! Consolation--getting a front of the line pass for any ride...we chose Peter Pan!
Exhausteddddddd
World of Color...
Falling asleep...
(Thanks Natty for the pictures!)

All in all it was an amazing trip, exhausting, but amazing. I'm a little sunburnt (because of course I applied the girls' 20 times a day but myself once) and it was hotter than heck but it was a good opportunity for us all to spend time close together and be silly. The girls surprised us doing so well a majority of the time. Of course we had a couple meltdowns but as a whole they were so well behaved, polite, and just absolutely hilarious to watch! They're about 2 inches away from being able to ride a ton more rides so I look forward to our next trip! Alex might say otherwise...he's definitely Princess-ed out haha! As usual though, he is such a good sport when it comes to all our emotional girliness--I don't know how he handles it!
