Daddy Nail Salon
This morning Emma asked Alex for nail polish on her fingers. He compromised and did her toes. Himself. Then proceeded to do Olivia's. I soaked up the bonding moment and took pictures. After they got up from naps Emma still wanted polish on her fingernails. Dad gave in...to both girls...

I'd just like to take a moment to give a shout out to Alex who blows me away each and every day with his parenting. For a man that only talked of having a boy when we found out we were pregnant he certainly is an expert in little girls :-) He can keep up in princess conversations with the girls, he ooo's and ahhhh's over all things Disney with the girls, he does a ponytail like nobody's business, and even though he pushes sports on the girls he religiously attends all their gymnastics classes and encourages their dancing, singing, and love of Chapstick and head bands. So thanks Al...for accepting, embracing, and celebrating all things girly :-)

Hot Buns
Minds outta the gutter guys...I'm talking about the hair tool. Totally random post today but since I spent a good 20 minutes cursing out this little device (that I have a love-hate relationship with) I thought I'd extend my rant here. Most people that spend time with me know my hair is up almost all the time. There are several factors at work here: time, energy, kids, curls, getting my hair stuck in th car door, dipping it in everything from my food to dirty diapers (ya, it's happened, more times then I care to admit), I could go on and on. The most obvious solution to all this is to cut it. But alas, I just cannot part with my long locks. In a fit of anger I DID cut about 4 inches off a few weeks ago but those 4 inches seem irrelevant at this point. Anywho...it's just easier for it to be up and out of my way since I rarely find time to straighten my curly craziness. After many a-late-nights with babies and infomercials I started trying out all the different "bun tools" out there. Nothing worked with my odd combination of hair: curly, fine, and layered. That is until me and Hot Buns met. Here begins my love-hate relationship. These suckers work wonderfully in my hair, don't give me a headache, are easy to use, are quick to use, and are cheap. However, all those fine points fly out the window the minute I try to take the thing out. Then all of a sudden I become a trash-talking trucker that would make even my husband blush. How can something so easy to put in become a torture device that would bring grown men to their knees?? The worst part of all is that tomorrow I'll stick one in my hair knowing full well that 12 hours later I'm going to be hopping around my bathroom yelling at myself in the mirror for putting the stupid thing in....I guess in some ways they're a little like child birth...

Fall!
I can't tell you how thankful I am that Fall brought us some cooler weather! I normally am all for the warmer weather but for some reason this year it just wore on me a lot harder. Honestly, at one point we were doing our daily morning walks at 8am!! I will NOT miss dodging sprinklers and trash trucks, that's for sure :-) We've already been able to do a lot more fun outdoor things since the weather changed: we've gone to the zoo, Lombardi's, we've been checking out different local parks, and we wrapped up our indoor activity of gymnastics this past Friday. We rounded out this past week by getting our flu shots and the girls were AMAZING! There were no tears and the entire clinic was so impressed with them (little did they know I promised Cinnabon...). Even the little old man fom Up came into the clinic to say he heard down the hall that there were two brave babies in the flu shot clinic :-) Ok so maybe he just looked like the man from Up but I was hoping the girls weren't going to yell out Carl!!

Unrelated to anything except I am in LOVE with these dip clips. These girls insist on dipping pretty much everything they eat so I found these little guys online and they make my life so much easier! |
