Birthday Girls

I officially have 1 year olds!  It still hasn't really sunk in and I think I'll say they're "12 months old" instead of 1 year olds when people ask :-)

We really didn't know how they would be on the day of their party (and their actual birthday) because Emma had just gotten over being sick and two days before the party Lu woke up sick.  On Saturday July 21st at 7AM I crept up to their door and listened: I heard happy babies!  I couldn't have been more overjoyed.  They had some cream cheese waffles for breakfast and then dad got home from work with a huge princess balloon for them to play with.  While the girls napped we set up for their party.

The girls were absolute angels during their party.  Running around, socializing, hamming it up for anyone that would pay attention.  Lu took a little while to come out of her shell but after eating some Stone Fire she was all revved up!  Emma on the other hand takes very little warming up--she pulled out all her tricks (even for people she had never even met before!).  Emma ran around waving to everyone, blowing kisses, holding her "1" finger up, and crawling up on laps.  After eating Stone Fire the girls each got their own "smash cakes" and made quite the mess!  We then spent quite a bit of time opening all their presents.  Please enjoy all the pictures from their party!

Anddddd last but not least.....

In other news...

We are moving!  Our house has sold and since we haven't found "the one" we are temporarily moving in with my parents.  We've been looking for something with a little more space and a little more land and because we want it to be our "forever home" we've been quite picky...hence being temporarily homeless haha.  When I've talked about our crazy lives lately this is exactly what I meant!  We have to be out by July 31st!  I'm hopeful we will find the perfect house...however, in the meantime, I may have less access to our blog :-( but I will try my best to update!

Ladies & Gentlemen...We Are Officially a House of Toddlers!

Somewhere between last night and this morning Olivia decided she was hell-bent on walking!  All last night she repeatedly tried to walk (well, run) and ended up taking quite a few spills.  She was so focused and determined but after an hour she was so deliriously tired that she was just cracking herself up and falling all over the place.  This morning she woke up refreshed and ready to try again!  The main issue that has been holding her back from actually walking is that she wants to RUN and I mean RUN.  She would prefer to skip walking all together.  So this morning we kept stopping her and restarting her and telling her, "go slow, go slow, just walk."  Well something just clicked for her and she was a walker!  She still likes to go at a pretty fast speed and we are constantly telling her to slow down but I think those words will be uttered to that little girl A LOT in her life.  Here are the before and after videos:

Last night: "Just let me run!!"

First Haircuts!

Today was a special day for the girls!  We took them to our family hair dresser Manuela for their first haircuts.  Manuela has been doing Alex's hair since he was a baby and my own since high school!  Emma really only needed a trim in the back to get rid of an awesome rat-tail she had been sporting and Lu didn't need one at all but got suckered in to enjoying this "special" day too :-) On top of it all, we are so so so lucky to be these girls' parents!  They have the best dispositions and today was no different--they giggled, smiled, and sat still the entire time.  We were also fortunate when we showed up to the salon that Auntie Hayley and her daughter Riley happened to be there!  They both helped to baby wrangle so we got tons of great pictures!  Enjoy!  *Special note--I didn't even shed a single tear--I totally thought I would cry over this for some reason!*

Apologies...

I know I warned that my posts may start to be all over the place but unfortunately that would probably be an improvement over not posting at all, eeek!  We are trying to get a zillion things in order these days and life has certainly been a rollercoaster so bear with me and enjoy some cute pictures of the kiddos in the meantime :-)

Emma's first steps!!  Emma decided that 6-22-12 would be the day she finally committed to walking!  Now, just over 2 weeks later it is her primary mode of transportation and she is trying out hopping and running!

This kid keeps me laughing all day!  She has even taught Emma how to do it :-)
